Rosemary Gillett has lived
since 1965 in Winter Park, Florida, where she maintains her studio.
Her residence doubles as a showcase of her interior design skills,
and has been featured in local and national publications.
|
The artist's method is intensely physical. Gillett lays out the canvas
on the floor, in classic Pollockian posture. After applying several primary
coats, she pours her design on the canvas and then rakes the surface,
bringing the colors of the thick gel paint to the surface producing its
sculpted effect. The resulting images are series of uniform squares, harmony
and balance.
