OSEMARY GILLETT lives
and maintains her atelier in Winter Park, Florida. Her paintings
depict her avid passion for Tuscany in Italy. Gillett's training
began in Dallas and Houston, Texas. She was a student of Jeramire
McAgiee, former publisher of "Art in America" and advisor
to Francoise and Domonique de Menil. Study of the de Menil private
collection brought Gillett under the influence of Georges Braque
and Mark Rothko. This study was a major influence in Gillett's life.
In 1965, Gillett settled in FLorida and pursued a career in interior
design, collaborating with architects in high-end contemporary design.
her corporate and residential interiors won numerous awards from
The American Institute of Architects and The American Society of
Interior Design. By the 1980's, her projects were a reflection of
Contemporary Italian design, influenced by Gillett's trips to the
Salon de Mobile in Milan.
In 1990, Gillett decided to pursue her painting, which was really
her first love. She reached a turning point in her painting technique
-- using the rake as her tool, creating line and texture with controlled
dripping. Gillett's work has appeared in numerous exhibitions in
New York, Palm Beach, Florence, Italy, and Salzburg, Austria. |
